6th Grade Band

Hello and welcome to our rehearsal for 6th grade!

Today we will be getting our second student selected piece: Highlights from the Little Mermaid. We also want to make sure that we practice Firebird so that we can move it from a 2 to a 3 on our rating scale.

Our Learning Targets:

(Percussion)  I can play a single stroke, double stroke, and five stroke roll. I can play flams and flam taps. Wind and bells: I can play a concert Bb major and chromatic scale.

I can play all of The Finale from the Firebird at  a 3 (or greater) on our rating scale.

I can play the entirety of the Theme from Symphony #9 at a 3 (or greater) on our rating scale.

I can play the introduction to the Little Mermaid at a 2 or higher on our 4 point rating scale.

Here is our plan:

1) Get set up and in your seats quickly.  Make sure you have your red clip. We will review our learning targets. You will find a copy of "The Little Mermaid" on your instrument stand. New bathroom/question routine will be reviewed.

2) Warm Ups! - Scales and rudiments

3) It's time for the introduction to Little Mermaid. We will be using direct instruction techniques today.

4) Finale from Firebird.

5) Rating scale discussion. What went well? Why? What didn't go well? Why? What do we need to practice this week?

6) Practicing assignments!

I look forward to seeing you for excel!
