Hello and welcome to our rehearsal for 6th grade!
Amazing job on our concert! I am very proud of you. It is time now for us to get up and moving on new pieces. Today's rehearsal will be spent doing a little maintenance. It is time to hand back our music from the first concert, get some new music from the second, go over the results of our concert survey together, and choose our student selected piece!
Our Learning Targets:
(Drums) I can play a single stroke, double stroke, and five stroke roll. I can play flams and flam taps
Wind and bells: I can play a concert Bb major, Eb major, and F major scale with arpeggio
I can evaluate my concert performance using our 4 point rating scale. I can rate each piece, analyzing my performance.
I can choose a favorite song that I would like to play on our next concert and give my thoughts on concert organization.
I can identify who Stravinsky was and defend the choice to play classical music at the next concert
Here is our plan:
1) I will greet you at the door and remind you to check in and that you need your devices today.
2) Objective discussion: while you walk in you will hearing a recording of some songs. Get set up and in your seats quickly. We will review our learning targets.
3) Warm Ups! - Scales and rudiments
4) After warming up we will be doing some discussion. We will go over the results of our concert survey together as a class, and discuss / defend our ratings and evaluation. I will play for you a recording of each student selected piece that was available. I will send you a survey to vote on your favorite piece. https://docs.google.com/a/newfairfieldschools.org/document/d/19DkKepyxppHFwCNnzmSpMmKWgpDrb4yiUKoTqeKaEsQ/edit?usp=sharing
5) Please find a copy of "Finale from the Firebird" on your stand.
6) Discuss 3/4 time.
6) Rehearse sections. (teacher modeling, discuss the STAR sight reading protocol)
8) Practicing assignments!
I look forward to seeing you for PLC!
