6th Grade Rehearsal

Hello and welcome to our rehearsal for 6th grade!

This is our last full rehearsal before out concert! We are now in the stage of polishing and perfecting for concert, and making sure drum set assignments are complete. We are finishing auditions for drum set parts are today.The majority of our rehearsal time will be spent Freedom Finale, as it is the song that was not yet a "3" as of last rehearsal. Drum set players on all songs will be announced today.

Our Learning Targets:

(Drums)  I can play a single stroke, double stroke, and five stroke roll. I can play flams and flam taps

Wind and bells: I can play a concert Bb major, Eb major, and F major scale with arpeggio

I can play Don't Stop Believin' at a 3 or  4 on our rating scale

I can Freedom of Finale at a 3 or 4 on our  rating scale.

I can play Eye of the Tiger at a 3 or a 4 on our  rating scale.

Here is our plan:

1) I will greet you at the door and remind you that you need "Don't Stop Believin'" There will be extra copies on the file cabinet if you need one. Please find materials extra materials for the rehearsal lined up on top of the cabinet. If you forgot your music you will find extra copies there.

2) Objective discussion: while you walk in you will hear a recording of our songs. Get set up and in your seats quickly. We will review our learning targets.

3) Warm Ups! - Scales and rudiments

4) After warming up we will run through Don't Stop Believin' We will finalize drummers for this at this point. We are only running through to finish up drum auditions and warm up. We will not be spending time rehearsing. Essential question: Can we apply the pyramid of sound to our performance of  Don't Stop Believin? If so, how?  What instrument in the original recording plays the Trombone part? '

5) After running through Don't Stop Believin' we will work on "Freedom Finale!" Rehearsal techniques will include modeling and sectional  based rehearsal. Essential question: Can we stay rhythmically together on Freedom Finale or are we still having difficulty with phasing? How can we apply the Pyramid of Sound to our performance of Freedom Finale? 

6) Run through "Eye of the Tiger"

7) Practicing assignments!
