6th Grade Band

Hi All!

Welcome to our band rehearsal. Today our goal is to master / polish A Little Mozart Suite, Antiquitus, Jingle Bell Rock, and Wipe Out. Today will be an important day. We will be discussing student conductors for the concert and beginning those auditions. We will also be discussing drum set players and beginning those auditions. We are also going to play one music game as a brain break during the rehearsal.

Lesson Plan
1) PACK and Band!
    a) Quick review of our norms
    b) REALLY important: is there anything you need now to be successful? Anything getting in the         way of your learning? Please let me know.

2) Volunteer Student Conductors. Who is interested in conducting on the concert? (review conducting lesson and share rubric)

3) Warm Up Time! We are going to warm up with songs from the red book. This will also serve as a a quick review of last year's learning.
     1) Red book #s 16, #24 (two parts), #39, #51, #63, #81, #88,#131

4) New Student Conductor: Warm up by running Mozart Suite

5) After we polish Mozart Mr. A will conduct it once as if we are performing it.

6) Antiquitus is next. Same routine as Mozart Suite.

7) Run Through Jingle Bell Rock.

8) Rehearse Wipe Out. Use sectionals and teacher modeling to teach part 2 and the coda.

9) Run through Wipe Out

10) BRAIN BREAK! At this point in the rehearsal we will break for a game of teacher vs class to reinforce the rhythms in Jingle Bell Rock and discuss dotted eighth sixteenth note rhythms.

11) Run through the concert as is. Discuss new concert order now that Wipe Out is in the mix.
