7th Grade PLC

You will need your instruments and music. Today we will be working on  Michael Jackson's Thriller and My Favorite Things along with 3 chorales and a new steady beat / rhythm game. We will be covering 3 major scales and the chromatic scales in warm ups, and making sure we have Smart Music and Embouchure / technique goals set for everyone, and that you know what those goals are! There is a TON to do. Drummers, we need to make sure our 6 essential rudiments are memorized and that our multiple bounce rolls sound "tight" and controlled.

Our Plan:
1) Welcome!

2) Discuss Band Council: schedule of meetings etc.

3) PACK and Band! (review)
     a) BRIEF review of our norms
     b) IMPORTANT. Is there anything you need today to be successful.

4) Warm Ups and Tune - "Tradition of Excellence Book 2 - Page 2 and page 42. Explain Bb, Eb, and F Concert major scales, the chormatic scale, the chorales, and audition requirements.

5) Western Region Audition Etude. Review of scales style for Western Region.Sharing of videos created for each scale, which are now on Google Classroom.

6) Preassess My Favorite Things

7) Rehearse My Favorite Things. Rehearsal techniques include student conductors (Mr. Akter will play with various sections to reinforce how the parts sound in your mind) sectional, and direct instruction.

8) "Thumbs up / thumbs down:" Who needs help and on what section? Direct instruction and sectionals to address needs.

9) Post assess: Was there growth? If so, why? If not, why not? What needs to be addressed next?

10) Assignments for practicing.

11) Run Thriller. Is it still a "4?" If not, why not? What can we do to make this piece and even more solid "4" than it already is?

12) Post to Google Classroom for "exit ticket."
