IMPORTANT CHANGE:
4) There will be an after school rehearsal in the high school auditorium on Tuesday the 19th from 2:45-4pm for all 6th and 8th grade members of band to prepare for band jam. Students will be able to take the late bus home.
5) All band members who have siblings in the 8th grade, and the entire Orchestra, will rehearse next Wednesday in preparation for graduation. All Band members who have siblings in the 8th grade should play the music for the graduation ceremony. This saves parents a ticket, which are strictly rationed. Also, the orchestra provides the rest of the music for graduation and is our last performance of the year.
6) All school instruments must be returned to me before the last day of school. However, if you would like your child to continue playing over the summer they can take out the instrument for the summer. Soon I will be emailing a list of summer music activities and opportunities for any students who want to continue to develop their skills.
Our graduation is Friday the 22nd. Students who are playing for the graduation band should be dropped off at the middle school at 5:25 on the evening of the 22nd We will meet in the band room to warm up and rehearse until 5:45. At 5:45 we will move to the HS gym for the graduation itself.
Graduation should be over by 7:15 or so. Please plan on arriving at 7:15 in front of the Middle School. I will dismiss the band students quickly so that they can get to you so can leave before the rush of parents. Most parents will be staying with their children to have refreshments and to socialize.
Students ought to wear their blue music department polo shirts to graduation. They can wear shorts if it is hot, but I am asking for “dressy” shorts (khakis etc) as opposed to “work out” shorts. Sneakers are fine.
The "dress" for band jam is the same as the last concert.
