You will come in to a recording of our concert pieces.
Our beginning of the rehearsal routine is always the same. Quietly take out your instrument and take your seat while listening to the recording.
We learned a great deal from last week's assessment exercises, and we had an amazingly productive rehearsal addressing the weaknesses we identified with assessment. Today we are going to make sure we are ready for concert .
Housekeeping: Percussion instruments: As we go through rehearsal please make note of any instruments you need. I believe we have enough, but we may run short now when combined. Anything we don't have I will borrow from the high school, but we need to assess this now.
Auditions for drum set are today. Student conductors and dialog folks have already been selected.
1) Warm ups and Tune Up!
2) We will discuss concert order and then run the entire concert after warm ups.
3) We will record the entire concert while we run it.
4) Run Piece 1
5) Discuss problem areas.
6) Rehearse trouble areas with direct instruction.
7) Run Through.
8) Run Piece 2

7th grade band
AWESOME work last rehearsal. We are virtually concert ready! Today we will warm up with a run through of the entire concert as if we were doing it onstage. We will then divide into teams for sectionals and I will coach. You will be responsible for assessment and deciding objectives in sectionals, but you need to be prepared to explain your choice of practicing when I get into your group, and you are responsible for moving your performance up the rating scale. I will take notes on my tablet while I walk around and coach. After that I will do some direction based on the notes I took on my tablet and we will run through the concert again, and follow that with another assessment. After brain break we will do some more rehearsal and then run the concert a final time. Our goal is 4s across the board. We can do it!

We learned a great deal from last week's assessment exercises, and we had an amazingly productive rehearsal addressing the weaknesses we identified with assessment. Last class, using the below lesson plan, we worked on polishing for the concert. Out of all three songs, all which got at least a "3" on our assessment (GREAT JOB!) Knight's Kingdom needs the most work. We will therefore rehearse the entire concert again today, starting with Knights Kingdom. Once complete however we will do a NEW recorded assessment to judge growth towards concert readiness.
1) Warm ups and Tune Up!
2) We will discuss concert order and then run the entire concert after warm ups.
3) We will record the entire concert while we run it.
4) Run Over the Rainbow
