7th Grade PLC

Hello 7th Grade Band!

Our Winter Concert is fast approaching! It will be held January 22nd. We are definitely doing a good job preparing. Please remember to practice at home!

Today we will have band during PLC, and the rehearsal is shortened due to our weather related delayed opening. You will be working on "Linus and Lucy," which is your student selected piece. You will be also be working on Pirates and Holiday Swing Along. I will be sharing the minutes from the last band council meeting with you, and we will be going over what was discussed at that meeting.

You will come in to band hearing a recording of "Linus and Lucy."

The check in procedure is always the same. You will enter the room with a recording of the piece we are working on today playing in the background. Volunteers will make sure everyone has a copy of "Linus and Lucy". Quietly take out your instruments, and take your seats. By this time, everyone should have received a copy of "A Holiday Swing Along," "Variations," and "Pirates." Please remember your music!

Direct Instruction: We will play through Linus and Lucy and assess what we remember from before vacation.

Student Conductors (we perform a section). I brought my saxophone today, and will be playing with all sections while we work with student conductors.

Assess: discuss what needs improvement.

Student conductors: (we will re-perform a section)

Re-assess.

Move on to next section if we are able. If not, I will intervene with direct instruction, sectionals, or modeling

Once we can run through Linus and Lucy successfully we will move on   to "Pirates" and "A Holiday Swing-Along." We will follow a similar rehearsal protocol to that above.

Closure: First we will "run the concert" with a performance of all three pieces as if we were on stage. Next, we will discuss the concert notice, and polo shirt orders. Finally I will share with you the minutes of the last band council meeting and we will go over what was discussed and decided.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Mr. A
