Welcome to our third "playing" full band rehearsal. Last rehearsal we had a lot of fun doing warm up activities. There is a LOT to do, and only 75 minutes to do it all, so we are going to have to purposeful and stay on track to get it all done.
You will walk in to recordings of "A Little Mozart Suite" and "Antiquitus," our two teacher selected pieces. You will sign in on the sign in sheet and take your seat in band. (click on the names of the pieces for audio recordings)
Last rehearsal we successfully introduced "A Little Mozart Suite" so today we are going to focus on introducing "Antiquitus." Looking forward to it!

Today we will be working on Michael Jackson's Thriller, discussing our student selected piece, discussing Western Region Band, getting information on Orchestra and Jazz Band, discussing the lesson schedule, and rehearsing our music. 5) Review the following rhythms: 2 sixteenths followed by an eighth, 2 eighths followed by a sixteenth, the "one and and" syncopated rhythm, and the dotted eighth followed by a sixteenth. (flash cards)
6) Western Regional Etude (beginning to measure 12)
7) Re-play introduction. This is part one of your practicing assignment.

Orchestra and Jazz Band Auditions
Attention all Band Members!
We will be holding auditions for our advanced ensemble, the Orchestra, after school on Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd of September. This is our version of Presto here at the Middle School. If you are interested in trying out you can stay after school in the band room on either day for about 45 minutes. Auditions are over by 3:30. If you want to audition, but can't make either time, just email Mr. Akter to let him know, and he will schedule an appointment with you!

2nd Band Mini
Dear First Trimester Band Students,
The first rotation of A-D days is complete! I've met with each band mini once. The lesson plan for today requires us to get up and get going with playing. We will do some assessments just to see where we are individually, set up a plan for forward progress through the curriculum, and get started with GoogleClassroom.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Second Band Mini
Welcome to our second band mini!
Today we are going to be finishing our norms, making sure everyone has completed the survey, discussing all the ideas you shared with me when we played snowball fight, and we are also going to be beginning playing our instruments!
