6th Grade Band

Hi All!

Wow! What a GREAT rehearsal last week! You sounded wonderful on "Let it Go." This piece is very challenging and we may have it ready for this concert instead of next! Way to go!

Today, you will sign in on the sign in sheet and take your seat in band. Then we will be doing some "book work" and reading exercises.  We all be doing pre and post assessment, sectionals, and student conductors on all four of our pieces.

Today you will be continuing work on our first student selected piece! "Let it Go" is an awesome arrangement. All we need to learn is the ending! GREAT job last time!

1) Brief review of PACK in band. Brief review of 5 rules.
When I am speaking you are listening.
When you are speaking I am listening. We never speak over each other
If you are playing an instrument, I promise to listen and/or play with you.
If I am playing, you should be listening, or playing along with me.
Keeps hands and instruments to yourselves

2) Warm Up Time!
     1) Red book #s 88,#131 and page 42 introduction (time for scales!)

3) Warm Up Performances of Be Still My Soul and Appalachian Folk Dance. These should be easy and fun at this point.

4) Pre assessment on Let it Go.  Discuss trouble spots

5) Direct instruction on trouble spots. Individual section work.

6) Student Conductors.

7) Post assessment.

8) We'll close with Eye of the Tiger
