7th Grade Full Band Rehearsal

Welcome to band! Like last year, we will be having full band rehearsal during PLC. Today is our first  band rehearsal. There is a lot to achieve. I want to do our welcome activities outside, get you all on Google Classroom, get you all signed up for Smart Music, discuss our new lesson schedule, and even do some playing. We'll have fun today, but we need to be purposeful to get it all done! Please bring your device.

Our Plan:
1) Welcome!

2) Everyone onto Google Classroom!

3) Everyone onto Smart Music!

4) Band Survey

Outside

1) "Switch Spots! Quick!"
This will be a fun game. The band room chairs are all stacked away and there are just enough set up for us to have room. We are going to form a circle, move around, and get to know one another a bit.

2) Snowball fight!
I love this activity. It's a way for me to get know you guys a bit. It is an activity that allows you to       anonymously share information about what your hopes and fears are about the upcoming band year, and helps me to address the band members' needs.

Inside:

1) Explanation of Lesson Schedule

2) Play time! (Tradition of Excellence Book 1 Page 2)

3) Band Survey!
After the snow ball fight I will do a little talking about leadership roles in band, and how you can get involved in our after school band council which meets after school the last Thursday of every month. The first band survey is your chance to make your voice heard on everything from what you'd like your leadership role to be, to what sort of music you'd like to play.

2nd Band Mini

Dear First Trimester Band Students,

The first rotation of A-D days is complete! I've met with each band mini once. The lesson plan for today requires us to get up and get going with playing. We will do  some assessments just to see where we are individually, set up a plan for forward progress through the curriculum, and get started with GoogleClassroom.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Lesson Plan!

1) Welcome!

2) Review of Snowball data

3) Band Survey

4) Onto GoogleClassroom!

5) Review of last year's progress. Individualized starting points for this year.

6) Into groups, and practice begins!
